At Cestrian, we understand that the nature of what we produce can bring environmental challenges. That’s why we put sustainability at the heart of our business. We are constantly improving our ways of working to optimise resource efficiency and minimise the waste that we produce during the manufacture, delivery and installation of our products and what happens to these products at the end of their lifecycle.
For a number of years’ we have been zero to landfill. This is a good starting point, but we are doing more. Currently, waste that can’t be recycled or re-used is burnt to generate energy. Our aim is to reduce this and have more of our waste recycled and repurposed.
Our new recycling journey
To improve our waste processes, we are proud to announce that we’ve started a new partnership with a waste management consultant group to better manage our recycling.
They have the expertise to educate our teams here, improve our processes and resolve complexities. Their experienced Consultants will guide us on industry changes and advise on new regulations and requirements throughout our customer and supply chain. They will pro-actively challenge us to do more and be honest about our performance.
As part of this new relationship, we will be improving how waste is managed with new recycling channels available;
- PVC –will be granulated and changed into new products or components.
- Polyester fabrics –will be granulated and repurposed into items such as animal bedding, plastic garden furniture and even dumbbells!
The compnay started working on waste solutions for the print media sector three years ago as it recognised it as a sector with specific challenges where it felt its knowledge and experience could make a difference.
Making a change
We know we can’t change the world overnight, but we can make a difference.
