The Heart of Our Operations

At Cestrian, we are continuously looking for new ways to improve the efficiency of our production and business processes throughout our supply chain to ease pressure on the environment.

We recognise the impact that our business has on our planet and strive to do the right thing to mitigate this. We’re incredibly proud of the work we have done to date on reducing our environmental impact. Here are some of our significant achievements from 21/22!

Sent zero waste-to-landfill for the last 7 years
All packaging for all clients is now 100% recyclable and PVC-free including all components (tape, bubble wrap, tubing, strapping and cable ties)
We offset 360 tonnes of carbon through our recycling efforts and planting trees through ‘Make it Wild’.
5,449 traffic cones produced by diverting 30 tonnes of polyester and PVC away from incineration.
Reduced water consumption by 5%
Achieved ISO 14001 and 9001 certification for the 11th consecutive year
Achieved SILVER rating from EcoVadis
FSC® and PEFC® accredited with full chain of custody
Produced The Sustainability Toolkit for our customers and other print buyers

Recycling Results

Cestrian don’t just make promises about being greener – we deliver great results too. We’re proud to say that in 2021 we sent 0% of our waste to landfill and instead sent the majority to generate energy. We’ve already achieved industry-leading environmental credentials over the years and regularly report our environmental results, which you can see below. This demonstrates our commitment to remaining as good for sustainable business as we are for our clients’ bottom line.

Carbon offset savings

Carbon offsetting with make it wild

Unavoidably, our production processes leave a carbon footprint. So, to combat this, we have bought trees through Make it Wild which will offset 100 tonnes of carbon – an average SME’s annual carbon emissions.

Planting trees is a perfect way to offset our carbon footprint as trees absorb cardon dioxide in their timber through photosynthesis. We’re proud that these trees will also be helping nature now and in the future from their home at Bank Woods, Summerbridge, North Yorkshire.

We are on a journey with many of our clients to work together on reducing our environmental and social impact.

Each project is assessed with detail to include sustainable materials and packaging options wherever possible, along with ensuring that production techniques and deliveries are environmentally efficient.

Once materials are no longer required, we can collect these from client’s stores or depots and put them into our recycling network where they can be turned into other products.
